The Power of the Light Spectrum
Red light wavelengths have the ability to reach deep down through all levels of the skin (from the epidermis, down to the dermis and beyond) stimulating cellular repair and increasing circulation. Light therapy for anti-aging helps smooth wrinkles and fine lines resulting in a more youthful-looking, smoother, plumper and vibrant complexion. Works on all skin types and for men as well as women. Daniel I. Wasserman, MD, Dermatologic Surgeon : LED therapy alone should be safe for darker skin types. LED therapy by itself with no chemical/medication components added to the treatment should be fine for darker skin types. Sometimes we add certain photosensitizers to the treatment to make it more effective (i.e. Levulan or Metvix). This photochemical reaction can cause postinflammatory hyperpigmentation, or dark areas after the treatment that will fade, but may take time.
